Contest FAQ


The “Don’t Fu[n]k Up Our Beats” Rap Contest begins on July 12, 2015 and ends on August 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. (PST). Eligible participants may enter the contest by following these instructions:

1. Download Choose a beat, buy it and download it.
2. Record Your Video Record a video rapping over your beat (2 minutes max)
3. Upload to Youtube Upload your video to Youtube
4. Submit Video Link Sign in and submit your youtube video link
5. Spread the Word Tell everyone you know to vote for your video!


How much does it cost to enter the contest?

This year’s contest will require all contestants to purchase a beat from the Don’t Fu[n]k Up Your Beats contest page on Beats are $9.99 each.

When can I submit my entry?

  • The contest begins and submissions open on: July 12, 2015
  • Submissions will end on: August 9, 2015 (16:59pm PST)
  • Voting will open up on: July 19, 2015 (12:00am PST)
  • Voting will end on: August 9, 2015 (16:59pm PST)
  • Finalists announced: August 16, 2015 (7:00pm PST)
  • Winners announced: August 23, 2015 (7:00pm PST)

How many times can I enter?

Each contestant may submit one entry.

How long should my entry be?

Submissions can be no longer than 2 minutes. Any submission over 2 minutes will be disqualified.

Can I use more than one of the contest beats?

Yes, you can use as many of the contest beats you want, but your entry cannot be longer than 2 minutes.

Can we enter the contest as a group?

Yes, but if you enter as a group, then you cannot submit a second solo entry.

Can I remove my video after uploading it to the contest page?

In order to remove your video, you have to contact support and request for it to be removed.

I don’t have a camera to make a video. How can I still enter the contest? 

No. You must submit an actual video.

Does the quality of the video matter? 

You should make the best video that you can make in order to gain the most amount of fans. However, the quality of the video is NOT a factor in the judging process. Just make it dope!

How many votes do I need to be eligible to be selected as a Finalist?

You will need 250 votes in order to be eligible to be selected as a Finalist.


Can I vote more than once?

Yes. Every video can be voted on once per day while the voting period is open.

How do you vote?

There will be voting buttons that appear next to every video on the Don’t Fu[n]k Up Your Beats contest page once the voting period starts. YouTube “likes” and comments are NOT a vote.


What does the winner receive?

Grand Prize: $2500

3rd Place: $500

Can I use the beat that I download for my own project?

Yes, you may use the beats for you own project, but you must agree to our non-exclusive beat agreement before downloading the beat.

Can I use my own beat for the contest?

No. You must use one of the featured beats on the contest homepage to submit your entry. All entries that do not use one of the featured beats will be disqualified.

Can I alter the beat?

You cannot add additional sounds to the beat, but you may change the tempo, add drops and/or shorten the beat if you don’t plan on using the entire track.
